Flue Gas Cleaning

Pilot Plant For The Investigation of Flue Gas Cleaning Processes

The reduction of pollutants from carbonaceous flue gases requires the investigation and further development of conventional cleaning processes such as electrostatic precipitators and catalytic denitrification.

For this purpose, at the University of Stuttgart at the Institute of Combustion and Power Plant Technology (IFK), the flue gas path to the chimney downstream the combustion chamber has been reproduced in a pilot plant installation. The complete implementation – from the development of the first process flow diagram to the ready-to-use test plant – was carried out under the direction of heat and power engineering.

The tasks included project management, process flow diagrams, changes in steel construction, design and procurement of air preheaters, denitrification catalyst (SCR), e-filters, piping construction and measurement and control technology.
